Toxicity and Preventive Activity of Chitosan, Equisetum arvense, Lecithin and Salix Cortex against Plasmopara viticola, the Causal Agent of Downy Mildew in Grapevine

Grapevine, a crop of global economic importance, is annually affected by diseases that can compromise the quality and quantity harvest, producing large losses. Downy mildew caused Plasmopara viticola (Berk. & M.A. Curtis) Berl. de Toni one most important in vineyard. To fight this pathogen, winegrowers often rely on conventional chemical fungicides or copper-based formulations, whose use determined to be reduced European Commission due their environmental consequences. Hence, alternative plant protection products (PPP) grapevine must considered studied. In context, we selected several commercial products, based basic substances (BS) low-risk active (LRAS), evaluate suitability deal with P. viticola. We measured preventive activity both vitro planta, as well toxicity against sporangia zoospores pathogen. Results showed four were effective pathogen directly preventively, being composed approved substances, more concretely, chitosan, Equisetum arvense, lecithins, Salix cortex. Among those, lecithins cortex toxic preventively. Therefore, these should promoted vineyard an treatments order transition sustainable viticulture.
